Montreal is a city known for its vibrant culture, delicious food, and stunning architecture. But amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, it’s important to take time for yourself and practice self-care. Whether you’re feeling burnt out from work or simply need a break from life, a solo date can be the perfect way to recharge your batteries.
So, here are some of my favorite spots in Montreal – or nearby areas – to indulge in some “me” time and take a break from your daily routine.

Spa getaway🧖♀️
One of the wonderful ways I love to take care of my physical and mental self is by indulging in a spa day. I disconnect from my phone, book a massage, enjoy the spa treatments, read a book, take a nap. Here are some of the spa places I recommend:
- Bota Bota Spa: Located in the Old Port of Montreal, Bota Bota is a unique spa experience that takes place on a boat. The spa offers a variety of treatments and facilities, including saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs. You can also enjoy a massage or facial while taking in stunning views of the city and the St. Lawrence River.
- Spa Scandinave: Located in Vieux-Montreal, Spa Scandinave offers hot and cold baths, saunas, and relaxation areas to help you unwind and recharge in the middle of the city.
- Strøm Spa Nordique: Located in îles-des-soeurs, Strøm Spa Nordique offers a peaceful escape from the city. The spa offers a variety of treatments, including massages, facials, and body treatments, as well as saunas, hot tubs, and relaxation areas.
Walks and hikes🌿
Montreal is home to many beautiful parks and green spaces, which are perfect for a solo stroll or a picnic. I personally always go to the park in Verdun, near my home, but I’d highly recommend visiting the Mont Royal Park, Parc La Fontaine or take a stroll along the Lachine Canal. I just love to enjoy a peaceful lunch surrounded by nature, take the time to paint, relax and take in the scenery.
Arts and cafés🎭
For me, the ideal self-care routine starts with a visit to cozy coffee places. I then dive headfirst into the world of art and culture, exploring museums, art galleries or exhibits that ignite my inspiration and curiosity.
It doesn’t stop there! I love to hit the streets, wandering without a care, stumbling upon hidden treasures in the local or thrift stores. This combo of coffee, museums, and exploring the city creates a magical mix of relaxation, stimulation, and discovery. It’s my go-to recipe for the ultimate self-care experience, and it never fails to rejuvenate my soul.
With that said, I do love to plan solo dates by just going to a coffee place to read. I also enjoy just grabbing a quick cup of coffee and going shopping to major brands like H&M, Simon’s or Zara. I don’t always end up buying anything, but there’s something about wandering around downtown Montreal, checking out cool stuff, and soaking in the vibe that I absolutely love.
Some of my favorite spots:
- Lili et Oli: For the delicious food, beverages and cozy vibes
- Maison de thé Cha Noir: For the calming vibe and delicious tea blends !
- Librairie Verdun/Boutique Réunion: For a little visit at the book store and home decor boutique !
- Boutique Brock-Art : For local and artisanal finds
- Any thrift store in Montreal: For the love of hidden gems, unique finds and fun shopping day !
- Cafe crew: For the gorgeous architecture and cozy atmosphere
- Café Chez Téta: For the Lebanese flavors close to home
- Tolédo: For the insanely delicious pastries and delicacies !
- Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal: To immerse yourself in the beauty of art.
Shops, markets and fresh flowers💐
For another perfect solo date on a sunny day, I can’t resist a visit to the local markets. Whether it’s the Atwater market or Jean-Talon Market, I love to take my time exploring the colourful array of fresh flowers, carefully selecting a bouquet that speaks to me. Making my way to the food section, I love to browse for fresh product, seasonal fruits and delicious treats. I always come back home with a bag full of goodies and a heart full of joy. It’s the perfect way to nourish my soul and enjoy a quiet summer day !
