Happy rainy Saturday 🌧️! Today, I want to share with you how to love your body more, in 4 simple ways. I’ve personally struggled with body image and self-love for a significant period of time, and I still experience occasional moments of self-doubt. However, when I started taking care of my mental and emotional health, I have developed certain habits that help me actively cultivate positive thoughts about myself. I wanted to feel better.

Listen to Yourself ❤️‍🩹

Whenever you notice you are feeling bad about your body, you need to give yourself a time-out. If you are around other people, excuse yourself to the bathroom and just think for a second. Sometimes you just need a minute to become more in tune with what you are feeling. If you are getting dressed and ready to go out, then don’t look at yourself negatively in the mirror. Instead, focus on all of the things you love about your body. Tell yourself some positive thoughts, so you can then begin to turn things around for yourself. I also love to write all of the things I love about my physical and mental self as a little journaling exercise.

Make a Change 🧖‍♀️

Sometimes you just need to make a change. It may be that you look into the benefits of clear aligners, or that you go to the hairdressers and get a different style. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to improve your appearance, the way you like it, and this can translate into you feeling way better about yourself. If there is something that makes you particularly unhappy then make sure that you deal with this first, so you can begin to love yourself more.

Personally, there are a couple of things I started doing to improve my self-image. I started working out, I developed a skincare routine to deal with my acne, I redid my wardrobe and kept the clothes that made me feel good about myself.

Make Yourself Feel Good 🤍

Another thing you can do is try and put on your favourite perfume in the morning. Even if you aren’t going anywhere, sometimes you just need to pamper yourself. It may be that you also put on some make-up, or that you wear something other than your lounge clothes. Sometimes by investing in yourself, you can begin to see an improvement in your mental health.

Eat Well 🥙

Believe it or not, the diet you eat is very much connected to the way that you feel. If you want to make yourself, feel better then one thing you can do is focus on eating better. Eating well starts with you eliminating junk food. Junk food contains a lot of inflammatory properties and this can leave you feeling less good about yourself physically. If you want to help yourself here, then one thing you can do is try to eat a good portion of fruit and vegetables every day. It may be hard to focus on eating so much fruit and vegetables when you are always on the go, but there are things you can do to make it easier on yourself. It may be that you take some fruit bars with you to work or that you simply rely on nuts and dried fruit as a snack. Smoothies are a great alternative here too, so be sure to look into them if you want to benefit yourself.
