Put plant power into action 🪴

Houseplants do not just look pretty, they will actively help to purify the air in your home too. They will take various pollutants like carbon dioxide and formaldehyde and turn them into oxygen, which means your home will be less polluted and you will be able to breathe easy at night. Just make sure you choose plants like peace lilies or snake plants because they are particularly good at cleaning the air.

Vacuum regularly 🧹

Vacuuming regularly will help get rid of pollutants like pollen and dust mites. You should pay particular attention to carpet because they attract more dirt, but soft furnishings should be vacuumed regularly too.

Avoid humidity 💦

If your home is humid, then the air is unlikely to be as pure as it could be due to the release of mold spores. That is why it is so important to do what you can to avoid humidity or dampness. You can do that by running a dehumidifier or dealing quickly with leaks, if you have any. So definitely call in experts to deal with any water damage your home experiences as soon as possible. The less humidity present in your home, the healthier the air!

Use natural cleaning products 🌿

Many of us bring pollutants into our homes unwillingly in the form of harsh cleaning products that contain ingredients like formaldehyde and volatile organic compounds. Yes, the residues of these products can flow into nature and our rivers . Incidentally, some heavy metals can also contaminate the fauna and flora, with the risk that these polluting residues end up on our plates. So, you might want to think about switching to natural cleaning agents like white vinegar and baking soda, which are much less problematic for you. They work just as well, if not better than the cleaning products you can buy at the store.

Stop burning things 🕯

The next tip to purify the air is to stop burning things like cigarettes or industrial candles. Anything that you burn can release pollutants into your home’s atmosphere. So, you can, avoid burning things in your home, you will definitely be able to breathe easier as a result. Now, if you really love burning candles (like I do), you can go for beeswax candles. They are much less problematic and can actually help clean up the air too!
