Why make journaling a habit? 10 journaling benefits

It slows down your brain and encourages you to reflect on a situation.

It’s one way to practice mindfulness and stay in the present moment.

You become more accepting of circumstances outside of your control.

It humbles you down by making you realize what matters in your life.

It makes you realize all of the wonderful things in your life that deserve celebration.

You become more understanding of your triggers and responses.

You go through moments of self-discovery and become more aware of who you are.

It improves the relationship you have with yourself and others.

It provides an opportunity for positive self-talk and to identify negative thoughts

Finally, it helps you gain confidence, by making you realize your worth and by looking at your own progress. You can feel proud looking back at the challenges you faced and seeing how far you’ve come.

Tips to stay consistent

First, understand why you want to start. Define your “why”. For example, you can start journaling because you want to improve the relationship you have with yourself or overcome a mental health issue (like anxiety).

Then, carve out the same time each day to dedicate to journaling. Include it in your routine.

You can always use guided journals to make the practice easier! Below are some recommendations:

And lastly, you can go on the internet and find “journal prompts” for inspiration. I actually curated a list of questions you can reflect on:

I love journaling! I have this little notebook always handy if I need to write something while on the go. Writing just clears my mind.

I guess you can say I used to journal when I was younger by way of a diary, these days I do not for fear of what I would leave behind after was gone. Too truthful people will get offended, not honest enough it would be worth writing it down…

oh I totally understand! I know that journaling is not for everyone. Personally, I never thought about what would happen if someone reads my journal after I am gone. I like to believe my fiance or family will keep it safe!
