Paula’s Choice benzoyl peroxide review
Product Information

This product retails for 18$ (currently on sale for 14.40$) and contains 67ml/ 2.25 fl. oz. of product. It is meant to target mild to moderate acne breakouts.
According to Paula’s Choice, it is “an effective acne treatment that works immediately to fight acne, prevent future breakouts, and reduce redness”. The brand also claims that it has hydrating agents, controls oil excess, and soothes the skin.
The key ingredient is benzoyl peroxide, which kills the bacteria from the root but it also contains soothing ingredients like allantoin to calm the skin.
Active Ingredient: Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% (anti-acne)
Inactive Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Propylene Glycol (hydration/penetration enhancer), Bisabolol (skin-soothing), Allantoin (skin-soothing), Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer (texture-enhancing), Hydroxyethylcellulose (texture-enhancing), Sodium Citrate (pH adjuster), Laureth-4 (stabilizer), Caprylyl Glycol (preservatives), Hexylene Glycol (preservatives), Sodium Hydroxide (pH adjuster), Disodium EDTA (stabilizer), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).
This product is cruelty-free and is available for purchase at Paulaschoice.com.
Packaging 4.5/5

This product has a pretty standard packaging. It actually matches the rest of the acne products from the CLEAR line. So, It comes in a bright blue bottle with all of the information directly printed on the front in a neat and organized way. It’s travel-friendly and it looks very clean and medical.
I actually like how Paula’s choice differentiates the products from different lines with colors. Also, the packaging is fully recyclable (I recently made my research to make sure) and all of the information is printed on the bottle directly which is much more eco-friendly. Plus, it actually looks better in my opinion.
Like, the rest of the products from the line, this packaging is not the most aesthetic packaging on the market. Like I mentioned above, it leans more towards the medical side which is not a bad thing at all. I actually love the packaging. It sends out a more serious message to the customers which is, I think, what the brand wants.
Formula 5/5
Concerning the formula, it performs really well. It’s very effective but unlike the previous acne products I tried, it’s more gentle. This product, specifically, contains hydrating agents so it does make a difference when I use it.
For my part, I use it just 2 times per week, only because my skin is sensitive and is still recovering from a bad allergy reaction. I feel like my skin barrier is weak hence I don’t want to overdo it with the active ingredients. Moreover, I usually use the treatment when I am not exfoliating just to avoid damaging my skin. The key is to be patient and to treat your skin gently (which I did not do in the past and I paid for it).
Benzoyl peroxides actually work by penetrating the hair follicles and killing the bacteria at its root. It’s an effective product and since it’s not an antibiotic, the bacteria won’t grow resistant to it. On another side, it’s an ingredient that takes time to work. Personally, I started noticing a major difference after 6 weeks of using it. Furthermore, benzoyl peroxides have some bad side effects like drying of the skin however, it’s nothing a good moisturizer and hydrating routine can’t fix.
Conclusion – Paula’s Choice benzoyl peroxide review 9.5/10
To conclude, I really love this treatment, it’s gentle but at the same time it is effective. Since I started using it, I noticed my acne started disappearing and my skin looked more clear overall. If you missed my previous reviews from the same line of products, I pair this treatment with a Salicylic toner and cleanser. I think together, they contributed to skin looking clearer. These types of treatments however have to be used constantly if not, your acne can come back, especially if the cause is hormonal (like me). These products do not cure acne. They help keep it at bay.
That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this review. If you did, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to subscribe to my blog.

Hi! I’d like to know how you used this. Did you use it like a spot treatment? Just on the areas with acne? Or like facial lotion, which you have to put all over your face? Sorry for this question, it must be dumb. Just wanna know cuz I’m planning to purchase this too! 🙂

Hey!!! It’s not at all dumb. I actually tried both ways. I like to use it as a facial lotion (I use a small portion though cause I have sensitive skin) because I have acne a little bit everywhere so that way works great for me.
