COFFEE WITH JOY // fall semester, new cat, going vegan & more

Hello, my pumpkins! Today, I am back with a Coffee With Joy post. I have not given you an update on my life since June and a lot of things have happened since then. So, grab your cups of coffee or tea, and let’s get into it!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that WE GOT A CAT! Well, we got a cat bout two months ago and I am late telling you that but oh my god, I am so happy and so obsessed with her. Her name is Lucie, she’s 4 months old, and she is a half Angora, half domestic shorthair. My boyfriend got her for me as a surprise. I can tell you that it was very unexpected and I was very surprised 😂. Actually, on my last Coffee With Joy post, I told you that I was waiting for a shelter to respond to my demand but they actually refused our application and I got pretty upset. But then, my boyfriend and his co-worker saved the day and got a cat behind my back as a surprise 😂.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I had the worst two days of my life at the beginning of the week. Let’s start with Monday: I started the day by forgetting my metro card at home. Then, I had to walk from the metro to my work in a wind storm while it was zero degrees, taking into consideration that…I forgot my beanie. This resulted that I got dizzy when I got to work and dropped my lunch bag on the floor. My tupperware broke and I had to throw all of my food away because there was glass inside it. And finally, I got an allergic reaction to one of the newest skincare products I got.

Now, Tuesday: My allergy reaction got worse, I got my periods so I was in a hell of a pain and I got my wisdom teeth removed..so again…I was in pain.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I’m really happy I am back to painting. I actually started painting again during the first quarantine and it really helped me pass the time and relax. I recently painted a landscape inspired by Star Wars and I absolutely love it! If you didn’t know, I took painting lessons as a kid and I used to draw a lot as a teenager, I still have my drawing book which was also my diary actually 😂. Obviously I stopped because I didn’t have the time anymore.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am getting much better at my witchcraft. Casting spells and doing rituals has become much easier and less intimidating! I also have a better understanding of the magickal properties of herbs and crystals. I am so proud of myself and witchcraft makes me so happy. Just learning and reading about it puts a smile on my face!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have officially started writing my Master’s thesis and it’s going super well. I am still in the part where I am reading a lot of articles and writing my theory base but it’s actually fun to do so! I hope to finish university by summer 2021 and start a full-time job by fall 2021. We’ll see if that goes according to plan 😂.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am trying my best to consume more ethically and consciously. My boyfriend and I have been doing our grocery shopping in a local vegetable store. And, we are buying our cleaning products from ethical brands. I also am trying my best to buy less makeup/skincare and to empty my products (i am doing great on that matter). I am also trying to buy from thrift stores instead of fast fashion stores like Zara or H&M. That last one is a bit hard considering I work for H&M. But I am definitely getting better!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I also reduced my meat consumption to almost zero. I try to eat vegan or vegetarian when I can and I am loving it, to be honest. I am not officially vegan or vegetarian and I don’t think I want to be. I am not against eating meat, I am just against overconsumption and the abuse of animals. It’s totally against my beliefs. On another note, vegetables can be super delicious. I’ve highly enjoyed making soup and vegetable meals!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my plant family is growing. I have 17 plants in total and so far, they are all doing great and look very healthy. I never thought I would be so happy with my plants. In fact, I never thought I would memorize their scientific name and their characteristics but I did and I am impressed with myself!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am most probably traveling to Lebanon for the holidays. I am very excited to see my family and hang out with my siblings, they are the best! I am also very excited to see my bestfriend and just see Lebanon again. I kind of miss it. I miss the food too. The food is too good.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that balancing my personal life with university and work is going super well. I organized myself in a way that I have two days to study, three days at work, one day to work on blog/Instagram and chill, and another day to go grocery shopping and clean the house. I also try to make time during the week for my witchcraft. But to be honest, I am managing pretty well! Also, on Friday nights, my boyfriend and I spend some quality time together.

And finally, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve started journaling on my iPad. I’ve actually created a monthly calendar where I share all of the positive things that has happened to me everyday for the month. I’ve enjoyed doing that cause it helps me unwind at the end of the day and it helps me stay grateful!

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this post. If you did, don’t forget to give this post a ‘like’ and to subscribe to my e-mail list!

xx

Great to catch up with you girl. Oh those two days seem like nightmare. I hate getting my period, I also have a lot of pain in that time, so I completely understand you. Those days are hard just as it is, but having bad luck on them is just the worse. Saw your cat on Insta, it’s the cutest, you are so lucky to have such cute animal friend. Lovely blog post. xx

yess it’s just a side job while I finish my masters but i love the team and the fact that I have a good discount and that I get dibs on all of the best clothes 😂😂 It’s not so good for my shopping addiction though! Good luck on removing your wisdom teeth, I know it can be so scary but you can do it!!!! Removing them wasn’t painful for me at all but it’s more like after 😂
