REVIEW // Vanish Airbrush Concealer by Hourglass

Happy Wednesday! Today, I am sharing with you my Hourglass Vanish concealer review. This is probably the most expensive concealer I own and I got it as a replacement for my empty Flex Concealer by MILK Makeup. Both have completely different claims, however I really wanted to try something new and something from the high-end specter.

Now, if you want to know my honest review on this product and if it’s worth buying or not, then keep on reading. Don’t forget to check out my previous post: REVIEW // Sunrise palette by Natasha Denona

Hourglass Vanish Concealer Review

Product information

This concealer retails for 34$ and contains 6ml of product. It comes in 22 shades, I have the shade “Oat“, which is described as a light shade with golden undertones.

Hourglass describes this product as a “crease-resistant, light-reflecting liquid concealer [that] blends seamlessly into skin and [that] diffuses the look of pores and fine lines”. They add that “the highly pigmented formula evens skin tone to conceal the appearance of dark circles, blemishes, and other imperfections for a smooth, natural, and airbrushed finish”.

Hence, the brand claims that the concealer is full-coverage but weightless. It is waterproof and blurs and color-corrects imperfections.

This product is cruelty-free. It is available at Sephora and Hourglass’s official website.

Packaging 5/5

This product comes in an extremely luxurious and pretty packaging. The tube is made out of hard plastic and is matte transparent. The top part of the concealer has a bronze color, similar to a lot of Hourglass products, and has kind of an angular shape with “H” engraved on the top. I absolutely love it. I love the details and the unique shape of it. The product also feels luxurious and feels more or less heavy. In general, the packaging is pretty simple and classy yet manages to not look boring at all! On another hand, the applicator has a beautiful almond shape and is extremely flexible to move with the movement of the hand.

Formula 3.5/5

Concerning the formula, this concealer performs pretty well, however leaves a lot to be desired. It offers a lot of coverage and a little bit goes a long way which I absolutely love. On top of that, it blends beautifully and seamlessly on the eyes and the finish is very beautiful and natural. It also is pretty long-lasting and still looks as beautiful at the end of the day.

Nonetheless, I don’t like how it settles on my lines and clings on my dry patches. I don’t have a lot so I don’t struggle too much with that but it happens sometimes. Moreover, it can easily crease, can feel super heavy, and can look super cakey when you apply too much of it (too much is actually a regular amount with other concealers) so at first, I kind of struggled to find the perfect amount to apply under my eyes. After using it a couple of times, I got the hang of it and I now know exactly how much I have to use to reach the complexion that I want.

Lastly, I definitely think the product is not inclusive enough because it does not offer enough shades for darker/medium skin tones. I was able to find my perfect shade with my perfect undertone however, I don’t think it can be the case for a lot of people.

Conclusion – Hourglass vanish concealer review 8.5/5

To conclude, I am really happy with this concealer. It offers a really good coverage with a beautiful finish. Nevertheless, it’s not the best concealer in the market and for the high price tag, I don’t think I’ll recommend it to my friends or subscribers. It’s good though, I just don’t feel comfortable enough recommending it, if you see what I mean.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this review. If you did, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to subscribe to my blog.

I think it sounds great but I don’t have too many skin issues so I probably wouldn’t splurge on it either
