Hello, my pumpkins! Today, I am sharing with you my hourglass highlighter palette review. If you didn’t notice, I actually took a small spontaneous break last week. Product information

Hourglass Highlighter palette review 2

This highlighting palette retails for 64$ and contains 3 highlighters with a metallic finish. Each contains 3g of product.

Hourglass adds that “with a velvety texture, these highly concentrated metallic strobing powders use Photoluminescent Technology to achieve the brightest, most amplified highlight”. They claim that these highlighters are buildable and customizable. They describe these highlighters as highly reflective and highly innovative in its performance. And, they add that “the velvety texture ensures a smooth application as it glides across the skin. It includes three flattering shades that can be used alone or together, wet or dry, for varying intensity”.

This product is vegan and cruelty-free and it is still available on Hourglass’s official website.

Packaging 3.5/5

Hourglass Highlighter palette review

This highlighting palette comes in a pretty sleek packaging that is at the same time quite simple. It does look very luxurious and follows hourglass’s aesthetic which I love. Personally, I prefer the gold or bronzed packaging over the silver one. I feel like silver looks cheap. I still think it’s pretty, though. On another note, the palette does not feel heavy whatsoever. It feels very lightweight and kind of cheap. I was a bit disappointed by that when I felt and touched it. However, I love the shape of the highlighters and how they are presented. They truly are the stars of this packaging. They are literally the only thing I love in this packaging. And by the way, the packaging looks prettier in photos.

Formula 4.5/5

Concerning the formula, the highlighters feel very velvety. They have a cheer base like they describe it and are pretty buildable. They are extremely metallic and reflect beautifully the light. Nevertheless, I don’t like how powdery they are. They feel a little bit dry and can easily enhance texture. So, I would recommend hydrating your skin pretty well before and not apply any setting powder on your cheekbones. I absolutely love the shades. They all go perfectly well on my skin tone and they blend beautifully with the rest of my makeup.

Another negative thing is that they are definitely not inclusive. I don’t think these shades would go for a lot of skin tones and when I say that, I mean darker skin tones. I am not sure though because they are quite sheer and highly reflective so they might work. I’ll have to read more reviews on this product to know.

Hourglass Highlighter palette review 3

Conclusion – hourglass highlighter palette review 8/10

Finally, I am very happy with this highlighter. It performs beautifully on my skin and gives me a truly beautiful metallic highlight on my cheekbones. However, for a brand like Hourglass, I was expecting more. I do love the fact that I have a variety of shades to choose from and I love the flexibility it offers. I can use all of these shades alone or together which is wonderful. But for 84$, I was expecting something more. And surely, not for it to be drying or texture enhancing.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this review. If you did, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to subscribe to my blog.
