RUNNING YOUR BLOG LIKE A BUSINESS

Happy Tuesday my pumpkins! If you have a blog, or are thinking of starting one, you probably want it to generate a little bit of money. Whether you want to put in the effort to make it a full or part-time job is another question all together. That will mean doing more than writing blog posts and then sharing them on social media. If you are looking to generate some actual money from your blog instead of just covering expenses, then you will need to start treating your blog like a business instead of just a hobby. Today, I am sharing with you some of my tips to run your blog like a business.

It’s, of course, still okay for you to consider your blog like a hobby. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Now, let’s just get into it and don’t forget to check out my previous post : MAY FAVORITES 2020.

Set Goals

If you want to get anything out of your blog, then you need to set some goals. What does success look like to you? Your goals should also be as specific as you can make them. This could include a number of email subscribers or social media followers or a specific dollar amount you would like to generate each month. You can also set goals related to page views, networking friends, or guest posts to write.

Once you have a specific goal, you need to set a time frame for it. When would you like to reach this goal? Be sure that it is ambitious, but also it should be realistic. Now that you have the end goal and timeline, you can start making plans. You need to figure out what you need to do to reach that goal and how much work you need to put in. Keeping organized and tracking your progress is important, so find a method that works for you. You can do it online with sites like https://www.templafy.com/document-automation-software/ or you can do it manually on your own. Whatever method you choose should work for you.

Invest in Your Blog

If you want your blog to start making money, then you need to be prepared to invest in it. In the beginning, any money you make should be used to invest back into the blog to help it grow. Investing in ways to save time and grow your reach will be worth the loss of initial income.

Assess Money-Making Strategies

If you are currently using any money-making strategies on your blog, you should assess them to see if they are working or not. If they aren’t working, figure out why. If it is something you can fix, then set it straight. If it is not a high priority to fix right now, cut it loose and focus on other aspects.

For instance, I invested in a beautiful web design. I really wanted my layout to be clear and reflect my aesthetic and niche so I went for a paid one and I have no regrets!

Network

You aren’t going to be able to turn your blog into a business on your own. You need to network with other people and find ways to learn and collaborate. Joining groups for bloggers in your niche is a great way to meet some people. Forming a smaller group of 3-4 people who meet regularly to talk about goals and problems and collaborate on projects is even better. Bouncing ideas off other people and getting advice from other bloggers in your field will be invaluable when it comes to growing your business. On top of that, I highly recommend collaborating with other bloggers in a blogpost. It’s so much fun, you get to Mae friends and you build your network. It’s awesome!

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and if you did, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.

Great tips! I don’t have any specific goal for my blog other than just be a creative space, but I do admire a lot people whose goal is to do something more with their blog! 😊

that’s actually an amazing goal, keeping it as a creative space. I think that’s why I started my blog to begin with. I loved writing movie reviews and I started it for that!

Love this, I’ve treated my blog like a business from Day 1 actually even before I launched it. It’s not there yet but hopefully one day. Yay for networking 😉
