15 Things to do while at home in quarantine

Do a movie marathon
First thing on my list is to do a movie marathon. Pretty predictable right? This is basically what I love to do on my spare time if I am not on my blog but what I love the most about this quarantine is that you can take the time to actually do a marathon. For that, you can choose a specific saga or trilogy to binge watch like Harry Potter, Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars or The Hunger Games. You can choose a specific actor or actress you want to watch – I recently binge watched Keira Knightly’s movies, it was so fun. You can choose a specific director you want to discover more or choose a specific mouvement in cinema you want to explore like the French new wave or German expressionism. This quarantine is truly the perfect time to discover new movies!
Have a self-care day
The second activity on my list is having a self-care day and that involves doing bubblebaths, facial masks, fixing and painting your nails, relaxing on your couch while reading magazines, meditating, relaxing and more. A self-care day is basically a day to take care of yourself ; physically and mentally. On that day, you do whatever it takes to make you feel like you’re at spa, to make you feel relaxed and good. It’s really up to you how you want your self-care day to go, as long as, it relaxes you. I personally, love having my self-care day at night, i light my scented candles and my lanterns, I take a nice hot shower, I shave, scrub my body, apply a mask on my hair, I do a facial mask and while I wait I read a good magazine while listening to really relaxing music.
Read a book
You can obviously read a book while on your self-care day but in general, take this time to actually read a book you’ve been wanting to read for the longest of time or that you’ve been putting aside cause you don’t have the time. You finally have the time so go read that book. On top of that, reading helps you open your mind, strengthen your brain, improve your vocabulary and it helps you relaxe and alleviate depression. Basically, Reading a book can only be positive for you.
Clean/re-organize/declutter
This quarantine really motivated me to clean my apartment thoroughly and reorganize my closet and makeup vanity. I basically decluttered so much makeup and intend to donate a lot of clothes. Plus, it actually makes me feel amazing because my mind is clearer when I have a clear space and non-messy apartment. And to be honest, I wouldn’t have had the time to do all that If i was not in quarantine so I am happy I got to do it. Now it’s your turn.
Redecorate
Another thing that I have found myself doing a lot since the beginning of this quarantine is decorating my apartment. Again. I find myself adding new stuff and changing how my apartment looks. I really enjoy doing that because changing the decoration of your apartment will give your apartment a fresh look and makes you feel like you are in a new place. On top of that, I am totally the type of person who gets easily bored of things, so change is a must.
Work out
Working out is definitely something that will keep you super motivated, energized and will allow you to have a more productive day. Therefore, I definitely think it’s something fun you can do at home while social distancing. I usually work out every morning for 30 minutes. It really helps me start my day well and stay positive. Plus, it helps you stay in shape!
Cook
Next, I really recommend to take the time to actually cook a really good meal. Not only this practice will really come in handy because cooking is something one person will always need in one’s life. But also, cooking or baking can be SO much fun and I think this quarantine is the perfect timing to improve those cooking skills.
Rediscover your hobbies
Whether it’s painting, sewing, dancing or playing an instrument, this is the time to rediscover what you used to love doing or what you’ve always wanted to do but never had the time. You are in quarantine, take the time to do something fun at home. It’s always nice to practice new skills. On top of that, you do not need to go outside to learn those new skills or practice the skills you gave up on. You can easily take lessons online, literally, the internet is full of amazing tutorials that you can easily follow.
Play Video/board games
One of the things that I love doing with my boyfriend and/or family is playing board games. It is extremely fun and time passes super fast when you play. You can also play video games which is as fun. I actually love to play a cooking game on the PS4 with my boyfriend. It’s so much fun and it allows me to spend some quality time with my boyfriend.
Learn something new
Whenever I have nothing to do, I always take the time to learn something new about a new topic, either the history of kings and queens in Englands or how the black hole came to be. I never miss the chance to enlighten myself and acquire new knowledge. Again, the internet is full of amazing articles/videos that will teach you about diverse things.
Learn a new language
You can also take the time to learn a new language or improve your skills in a language you suck at (for me, it’s arabic and Spanish). It’s always something useful and something that you can add to your CV, later on. So use this quarantine to do that.
Reconnect with your loved ones
Since the beginning of the quarantine, I’ve definitely been calling my family more. Everyone is literally in quarantine like you, so take this time to call them and spend time with them via FaceTime or skype. No excuses, everyone has now some free time to talk and reconnect so don’t miss this opportunity.
Create playlists for your different moods
Another thing I love doing when I am bored at home is creating playlists for my different moods. I practically have a playlist on my Spotify for when I study, for when I’m happy , for when i’m sad, and a playlist of all of my favorite movie tunes. Plus, this actually helps me discover new songs and music I’ve never heard before.
Journaling
Journaling is a mindful practice that helps you reduce stress and anxiety according to Bustle. Hence, for our current situation, I really think journaling is a great thing to do while at home. Journaling is basically keeping a diary or journal that explores your feelings and thoughts surrounding the events of your life. You can easily add a calendar and a to-do list but what I love the most about it is how some people can get really creative with it. Journaling also involves drawing, painting and creating some fun collages, so it’s definitely a creative activity too!
Make your own [un]scented candles
Finally, the last activity you could do while at home in quarantine is making your own scented or unscented candles because that is the coolest thing to do and I really want to make a thousand of them. For that, you obviously need to buy some stuff like wax or essential oils. But on the long term and if you love candles, it will be financially beneficial for you . Moreover, you currently have the time to do that so go make some candles!
