12 Movies To Watch On Christmas
The Holiday [2006]
“Two women troubled with guy-problems swap homes in each other’s countries, where they each meet a local guy and fall in love.”
“The Holiday” is probably my favorite rom-com movie of all time. It is so fun and entertaining and the cast is amazing! I mean Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet. Just great!
Love Actually [2003]
“Follows the lives of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England”
Another one of my favorite rom-com movies, watching “Love Actually” is actually a tradition. It’s a cheeky and appealing movie with an unbelievably attractive cast and fun story.
Elf [2003]
“After discovering he is a human, a man raised as an elf at the North Pole decides to travel to New York City to locate his real father.”
“ELF is probably one of the funniest movies I’ve ever watched in my life and quite a family treat. It’s definitely not the most beautifully composed movie however Will Ferell definitely makes it a Christmas classic!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas [2000]
“On the outskirts of Whoville lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch (Jim Carrey) who plans to ruin Christmas for all of the citizens of the town”
“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” is one of the most iconic Christmas. In fact, the character is very iconic for the holidays. It’s actually a really fun movie filled with hilarious and relatable moments. I really enjoy this movie!
Klaus [2019]
“A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.”
If you read my review on my blog then you know that I absolutely loved this 2D animated movie about the origins of Santa. It’s very imaginative and fun with a really well-written story and gorgeous visuals.
Home Alone [1990]
“An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation.”
“Home Alone” is an iconic Christmas movie that is violently amusing and extraordinarily funny!
The Polar Express [2004]
“On Christmas Eve, a young boy embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery, and the spirit of Christmas.”
“The Polar Express” is such a majestic movie with unbelievable visuals, great cast (I mean Tom Hanks please) and touching story. This is definitely the only Christmas movie I’ve watched a thousand times with my family. It’s such an impressive and enchanting movie.
A Christmas Carol [2009]
“An animated retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions.”
“A Christmas Carol” is not the most marvelous and touching movie. However, it is definitely worth watching for the gorgeous visual, Christmas spirit and moral!
The Nightmare Before Christmas [1993]
“Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home causes confusion.”
“The Nightmare before Christmas” is probably the most iconic movie to watch on Christmas or halloween. It’s one of Tim Burton’s most iconic creation and probably the best! It’s a beautifully realized and delightful confection, that is very eccentric and spooky at the same time.
The Santa Clause [1994]
“When a man inadvertently makes Santa fall off of his roof on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place”
“The Santa Clause” is not the most well-made Christmas movies. However it is an extremely entertaining movie to watch with your family and to just have fun.
Joyeux Noël [2005]
“In December 1914, an unofficial Christmas truce on the Western Front allows soldiers from opposing sides of the First World War to gain insight into each other’s way of life.”
A more dramatic and momentous Christmas movie, “Joyeux Noël” is set during World War 2. It is a very touching and uplifting movie. I really recommend it if you love dramatic movies, especially related to Christmas.
Batman Returns [1992]
“Batman returns to the big screen when a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaks havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman.”
This is a not very obvious choice but this Tim Burton movie is set during the holidays and features a Christmas tree, gift, snow, the Christmas spirit basically. I absolutely love this movie, it’s actually my favorite childhood movie of all time. Me and my sister used to watch all the time. It’s dark, adventurous, imaginative, entertaining and I 100% recommend it if you love spooky movies!
