Movies I Watched in November 2019 – From Worst To Best

Hello my lovely pumpkins! Today, I am sharing with you my reviews on Frozen 2, Doctor Sleep, Klaus and Parasite! I am publishing this post a little bit early this month because I am taking a 2 week break to focus on my exams! I actually published my October movie reviews not so long ago, you can check it out here: Movies I Watched In October 2019 – From Worst To Best.

If you want to know my honest thoughts on the movies I mentioned, then keep on reading! And, don’t forget to check out my previous post: COOL TONED SMOKEY EYE MAKEUP

Frozen 2 [2019] 3/5

Frozen 2 movie review..jpg

“Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa’s powers in order to save their kingdom.”

While making a sequel was unessential, Frozen makes a great come back and everything (and everyone) we loved about the first one, makes an appearance in the second one. Frozen 2 is definitely a fun ride, it has a good story, more complex and more mature than the first one and it is visually so beautiful. I mean I could live in the enchanted forest my whole life. Moreover, it tackles more important issues, touches new themes in the world of fairytales and honorably represents the Scandinavian culture. Besides all of these positive aspects, Frozen 2 did not manage to captivate me as much. There was a few plot issues which dragged down the movie, but not to an extreme, and I just wish they developed the story in a better way. On top of that, I personally didn’t think the music was as good as the first one. Don’t get me wrong, i truly loved it and i highly recommend it.

Update : I actually loved it even more after watching it a second time and fell more in love with it as I started noticing more details and “Easter eggs”. And All Is Found has quickly become my favorite song!!

Doctor Sleep [2019] 3.5/5

doctor sleep movie review 2.jpg

“Years following the events of “The Shining,” a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal.”

“Doctor Sleep” is a powerful, spooky horror movie when it does its own thing. It has all of the elements to become a great movie yet I did not feel satisfied at the end of it and it is less of a good movie when it tries to recreate some scenes from The Shining, which I HATED. It is too bad because the movie has so much to offer, so much new material. The story develops really nicely throughout the film and builds up to an amazing climax. Moreover, the characters are amazing and the cast is on point. It has some amazing visuals and great editing, I loved how some abstract concepts were visually portrayed. Another good thing is that it does not contain any cheap jump scares, this movie is purely dark. But with all of these amazing things, Doctor Sleep does not make it on top of my list because it relies too much on its predecessor to move on in the story.

Klaus [2019] 4/5

Klaus movie review .jpg

“A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.”

I don’t know who asked for an animated movie about the myth of Santa Claus but damn I am so happy Netflix made it. “Klaus” is a beautifully animated movie with a captivating, charming and creative story. It has some amazing moments of comedy and some important themes related to war and hatred which the movie tackles superficially Moreover, the characters are so lovable and fun to watch. The storyline is not innovative and the characters are sort of deja-vu but the movie has a fun and new approach to the storytelling which made the movie so enjoyable. I definitely recommend this movie if you want something fun to watch with your family/friends.

Parasite [2019] 5/5

Parasite movie review.jpg

“All unemployed, Ki-taek and his family take peculiar interest in the wealthy and glamorous Parks, as they ingratiate themselves into their lives and get entangled in an unexpected incident.”

“Parasite” is hands down one of the best movies of the year. It is thrilling and undeniably smart and twisted. The storyline is so well written and so furiously well-crafted. It touches some important themes such as social inequality yet manages to stay exciting. I really cannot get over how beautifully written it is and how smart the dialogue is! Moreover, the acting is amazing and the cinematography is on point. I have seriously nothing negative to say about this movie other than that it’s a masterpiece, that’s not even a negative thing. This movie is too good but is definitely not for the faint of heart. “Parasite” is not an easy watch but I 100% recommend it. Note that it’s in Korean.

5/5: Excellent!

4/5: Very Good

3/5: Good

2/5: Bad

1/5: VERY bad!

That’s it for these mini movie reviews. I hope you enjoyed reading them and if you did, don’t forget to give this post a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.
