Happy Monday my pumpkins! Today, I am diving into the trends for Fall 2019 and for Spring 2020. So after gathering intel from several different fashion magazines and youtubers, I’ve put up a list of my favorite trends from the New York, Paris and Milan Fashion week and that I cannot wait to include into my wardrobe. Some of these trends can of course be applied to makeup and that’s what I love.
Now let’s get into it! Also, don’t forget to check out my previous post: SEPTEMBER FAVORITES ’19.
Trends for Fall 2029 and Spring 2020
Tiny purses

Okay, these have been everywhere, on the runaway and on the street. They are literally all over Instagram and Pinterest and influencers go crazy over them. They are actually absurd and nothing can really fit inside. In a couple of years we will probably wonder why these were ever in style but let’s be honest, they are cute and make an outfit look instantly fashionable! According to Elle, “Jacquemus created a meme sensation, but designers like Salvatore Ferragamo, Chloé and more can provide a little inspiration”.
Millennial Purple

According to Elle, purple is to be expected in our Spring 2020/Fall 2019 wardrobe. The head-to-toe, monochromatic purple look by Balenciaga and Jacquemus is our new obsession but also a touch of purple accessories will do! Also, just imagine how good this trend could look as a makeup look!
Capes

Not every hero wears a cape but a good fashion stylist does and our fellow designers did not hold back this season. Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Chloé, Burberry all showcased a set of gorgeous trench coat/leopard capes. According to Vogue, this trend is particularly modern while being firmly classic.
Cinched Suiting

That’s probably my favorite trend out of them all. I am obsessed with blazers and I love this new trend to cinch it to your waist. It is just so flattering and sleek. This trend is all about the belt: leather, chains, thin, thick, brown, black. Just choose the design you want and pair it with any jacket you can find. Here you go, you’ve got yourself a trend! (Elle, 2019)
The White Suit

White suits resonates with your go-to chic girl and according to Harper’s Bazaar, this ensemble will be very trendy in spring 2020. Tory Burch, Mara Hoffman and Adam all had white as inspiration and that’s a good thing, because I happen to own a pair of white pants which I cannot wait to style with a white blazer and blend in with the Montreal snow! Plus, you can’t really go wrong with a white suit.
Lime Green

Spring is always about cool, pastel colors that are fresh and summery. Well, you will be happy to hear that lime green was spotted on the Jonathan Simkhai, Tibi, and Rosetta Getty runaways (Harper’s Bazaar, 2019). Again, you can go on and wear a head-to-toe monochromatic lime green outfit or just add some touches of green accessories. Lime green can exceptionally look good as an eyeshadow as well, maybe a little bit in the tear dot or as a cut crease.
Satin

If purple and lime green is not enough for you, just imagine a satin lavender dress or satin lime top. According to Elle, Versace brought back the typical satin dresses form the 90s and is not afraid to add a pop of neon and edges of lace. It’s all about updating this fabric that is ideal for a classy night out but can also look great for your average day wear. You can easily pair it with a pair of jeans or casually dress it down with sneakers.
Polka Dots

Another intake from Harper’s Bazaar is Polka Dots. Indeed, polka dots are going to be all over your OOTDs this spring 2020. From dresses to pants, the designers did not hold back from adding dots everywhere. Carolina Herrera and Marc Jacobs showed gorgeous polka dot dresses while Michael Kors went for the polka dots pants. Anything can work with dots, it’s a classic!
Punk Spirit

Well, that’s a major throwback to 2011 Joy. My major fashion inspiration was Billie Joe, the punk king so you can guess how excited I am for this trend. Anything that is loud, rebellious, grunge, that “defies tired convention” is a big “yes yes” for spring 2020 and fall 2019. According to vogue, this theme was pretty recurrent on the fashion runaways with Alexander McQueen, Prada and Louis Vuitton. So take your leather jacket out, black boots and silver chains because punk is not dead!
The 80s

Glitter and shoulder pads are back on trend because according to Vogue, the 80s are in this season. The eighties era was a big inspiration for a lot of shows during fashion week, including Saint Laurent, Alberta Ferretti and Isabel Marant.

I know I shouldn’t but I love those tiny bags, they’re adorably hilarious! The capes are probably my favourite trend, I’d feel so sassy walking around with a cape haha. Millennial purple is so pretty, look forward to seeing more of it in stores. 😍

Hmm I’m not sure that these trends are for me, but I love a good mini bag. It’s cute, stylish and easy to carry, but yeah you can’t fit almost nothing in. But I managed to learn to carry just essentials and it’s working for me on day to day basis. xx
