Hello my pumpkins! Today, I am sharing with you my quick reviews on the following movies: John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Always Be My Maybe, Dark Phoenix and Godzilla: King Of Monsters. I didn’t love any new movie that I watched this month, all of them are meh, in my opinion!
By the way, I decided to change my schedule for this summer because I am in Lebanon. So I am gonna keep posting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:30am [Lebanon time, 4:30pm, Montreal time]
Don’t forget to check out my previous post: QUEBEC CITY VLOG // what to see, eat & do. And, let’s get into it!
Godzilla: King Of Monsters 2/5
“The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.” – IMDB
While watching “Godzilla: King Of Monsters”, I was neither disappointed nor surprised. If you are looking for an intense action movie with lots of monsters then Godzilla is definitely for you. However, for me, this movie was a complete waste of time. The story has no built-up whatsoever, it’s incomplete and has no core. This movie is neither sensational nor impressive, it’s very basic. Everything about it is basic, like the story, the action sequences, the characters.
Dark Phoenix 2.5/5
“Jean Grey begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn her into a Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than all of humanity.” – IMDB
“Dark Phoenix” is not a disaster at all but it’s not a great movie too. The story is just not that great. Like, I agree with some movie critics who wrote that Marvel set the bar too high and everything less than perfect will be considered a disappointment. Moreover, I feel like this movie has no purpose in the X-Men franchise. I really enjoyed seeing Magneto and Charles Xavier again. Especially, Magneto as he is my favorite character in X-Men and Michael Fassbender just makes this movie so enjoyable! Other than that, this movie is….basic :p.
Always Be My Maybe 3/5
“A pair of childhood friends end up falling for each other when they grow up”
“Always Be My Maybe” is a fun and delightful romantic-comedy movie. The jokes are spot on and the characters are so lovable. On top of that, the actors had definitely chemistry together which made the relationship between them more realistic. The scenes with Keanu Reeves were, in my opinion, the most memorable and the funniest ones. I also really loved the art direction, it made this movie so beautiful to watch. However, it’s not the rom-com movie of the year, it’s neither powerful nor transformative. I definitely think it’s worth watching and I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good easy, fun rom-com movie!
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum 3/5
“Super-assassin John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin’s guild, and with a $14 million price tag on his head – he is the target of hit men and women everywhere.” – IMDB
I seriously do not understand why so many people love the John Wick franchise that much. But, I cannot deny that “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” is a hell of a good action movie that it is super entertaining. When I say “a hell of a good action movie” I mean that the action sequences are so intense, and leaves you at the edge of your seat. The fighting scenes are just too good and so well choreographed, in my opinion. On top of that, I spotted a lot of funny moments in this movie that are so memorable. Nevertheless, I don’t think it deserves more than a 3/5, the story is so meh, I don’t know what to say but it’s not that amazing :p. And, I hate the acting, it’s monotonous and one-dimensional.
If you love John Wick, let me know in the comments why, I am so curious to understand and maybe, to change my mind?
4/5: Very Good
1/5: VERY bad!
