Movies I Watched In May 2019 – From Worst To Best

Hello my lovely pumpkins and welcome back!

Today, I am sharing with you my Aladdin movie review, Pokémon Detective Pikachu movie review and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile movie review. I didn’t get the chance to watch a lot of new movies this month because I was so overwhelmed with work and I was busy watching Game Of Thrones :p. As a matter of fact, I wrote a review on the GAME OF THRONES SEASON FINALE REVIEW.

Now, don’t forget to check out my previous post: MAY FAVORITES ’19 and let’s get into it.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile [2019] 2.5/5

extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile movie review.jpg

“A courtroom frenzy ensues and sweeps 1970s America when a young single mother meets Ted Bundy, [a serial killer].”

“Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile” is extremely and shockingly disappointing. While the performance of Zac Effron is amazing, the story is all over the place and the movie struggles to justify its existence.  The movie has no tone and did not move me emotionally whatsoever even though the character himself is very interesting. Throughout the movie, they tried their best to humanize this serial killer yet I couldn’t stop thinking about why they were trying to convince us that he was innocent. The direction they were taking was just not clear to me. I don’t really recommend this movie unless you are curious to watch Zac Effron being extremely wicked, shockingly evil and vile.

Pokémon Detective Pikachu [2019] 3/5

Pokémon Detective pikachu movie review.jpg

“In a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective.”

“Pokémon Detective Pikachu” is very entertaining and visually stunning. Ryan Reynolds makes this movie perfectly acceptable and very enjoyable but the rest is unsatisfactory. The storyline makes sense but is basic of any commercial movies, I did enjoy the little twist at the end. On top of that, the actors’ performance is blunt and the characters are very much deja-vu. I can’t find anything that makes this movie unique and memorable besides Ryan Reynolds but again, his character is deja-vu. I am not a connoisseur in Pokémon but I would really recommend this movie if you are a fan of Pokemon and love the world of Pokémon because this movie does it justice, in my opinion.

Aladdin [2019] 3.5/5

aladdin movie review.jpg

“A kind-hearted street urchin and a power-hungry Grand Vizier vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true.”

“Aladdin” is the most fun movie I’ve watched this month making it on my May Favorites list. It is a really nice and fun live-action adaptation of the 1992 Aladdin movie. The story is fairly similar to the old movie, it does not bring anything new to the world of cinema or as a matter of fact, to Aladdin. However, Will Smith’s performance is just amazing, he makes a perfect genie. Moreover, visually the movie is very impressive and magical, i loved the dance performances and the songs are so fun! One negative thing I have to say about the movie is that Jaafar is not as intimidating as in the cartoon. I definitely recommend this movie as it a huge smile on my face and I’ve been listening to the soundtrack since!

5/5: Excellent!

4/5: Very Good

3/5: Good

2/5: Bad

1/5: VERY bad!

That’s it for these mini movie reviews. I hope you enjoyed reading them and if you did, don’t forget to give this post a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.

I rarely get to watch movies but sounds like I need to add Aladdin to my “watch list.” This movie is popular enough that they seem to remake it ever ten years or so to catch the newest generation. Thanks for the review.

We will be watching Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile when hubby and I have a couple hours together. I’m curious to see how this particular actor does in this type of movie.

I watched Aladdin the other day and I thought it was great. I enjoyed it very much. I also watched Extremely Wicked and I thought it was so weird that they tried to portrayed him as innocent in the movie.
