Movies I Watched in April 2019 – From Worst To Best

Hello my lovely pumpkins and happy 1st of May!!

Today, I am sharing with you my monthly review on all of the movies I watched during the month of April. If you guys don’t know about this series, basically, I used to write movie reviews on a weekly basis but not a lot of people appreciated them so I decided to combine all of my weekly reviews into one post that I publish every month cause I wanted to continue writing movie reviews and at the same time please you with my blog content!!

Don’t forget to check out my previous one, I share my review on US, Captain Marvel, Capharnaum and more. My reviews are of course spoiler free. Now, let’s get into it!

Dumbo [2019] 3/5

“A young elephant, whose oversized ears enable him to fly, helps save a struggling circus, but when the circus plans a new venture, Dumbo and his friends discover dark secrets beneath its shiny veneer.” – IMDB

“Dumbo” highly relies on visual effects and not at all on the story or character development. Even though, I really enjoyed it and was happy to see Tim Burton’s world again, I don’t think it brings anything new to the world of cinema or to the original story of Dumbo. The actors were really well casted but honestly, the characters are one-sided which did not make me attached to them and the acting is pretty basic. I don’t think this movie is worth watching in general, this is definitely not Tim Burton’s best work, but it is a spectacle and is very beautiful to watch. It was a cute movie to watch, a nice throwback to my childhood but that’s it.

Avengers: Endgame [2019] 4/5

“After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) [you guys can check out my review here]  the universe is in ruins. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe.” – IMDB

Honestly, that movie was the perfect ending to an era, it left me very emotional [yes] yet so satisfied, I feel so content and fulfilled by the ending. I 100% recommend it, I really enjoyed the many humorous scenes, the development of the story, how it built up to the intense climax, and how it was connecting all of the dots together. I also enjoyed seeing these iconic characters again and their journey to defeat Thanos. Like Infinity War, I didn’t feel the time pass, the movie is very entertaining. They prioritize the story over the visual effects which I really appreciated, but there was still some very beautiful and memorable shots.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind [2004] 4.5/5

MV5BMTQ4Mjk0Nzk2M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDU5ODMyMw@@._V1_SX1777_CR0,0,1777,945_AL_.jpg

“When their relationship turns sour, a couple undergoes a medical procedure to have each other erased from their memories.” – IMDB

I don’t know why it took me that long to watch that movie but it is…AMAZING. It is a pure drama-romantic movie but it has a touch of Sci-Fi, which I love. Unlike other romance movies, it has a very complex story with complex characters, it is brilliantly twisted and is so emotional, I cried a lot. It is unlike any film I’ve ever watched AND I WATCHED IT IN 2019 :p Also, I loved Jim Carrey’s performance. The reason why I only rate it a 4.5 over 5 is because I didn’t like the ending, well, actually, what happens after the ending. I don’t want to spoil it, even though it came out 15 years ago but basically, that’s why.

BlacKkKlansman [2018] 4.5/5

MV5BNWNmNWE5MTEtM2Q2OS00Nzg0LWFiY2UtZmE3ZmY3MzM1MzQ1XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNDE5MTU2MDE@._V1_.jpg

“Ron Stallworth, an African American police officer from Colorado Springs, CO, successfully manages to infiltrate the local Ku Klux Klan branch with the help of a Jewish surrogate who eventually becomes its leader. Based on actual events.” – IMDB

I loved this movie, it is both hilarious and straight to the point, it has a clear message related to the different races in America. I think Spike Lee did an amazing job because the movie has an angry message against racism but it still feels pretty mature and peaceful, it’s very hard to explain but that’s practically how I see this movie. The main character, Ron, is so lovable and entertaining and the movie contains some iconic scenes which I will never forget. Concerning the story, it is steady and everything flows very nicely and builds up nicely to the climax. On a side note, I loved the visuals of this film, from the costumes to the cinematography, everything is on point.

5/5: Excellent!

4/5: Very Good

3/5: Good

2/5: Bad

1/5: VERY bad!

That’s it for these mini movie reviews. I hope you enjoyed reading them and if you did, don’t forget to give this post a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.

After I’m done with Star Wars I’m planning on starting with marvel movies (just like SW I never had the occasion to watch them so I’m excited to see them)

My honest thoughts about ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Emotional, compelling story, amazing time-travel sequence,
humor, I got myself crying on few moments,
the one that hit home in my heart is Tony.
He will always be my favorite superhero of all time. No one can replace Robert Downey Jr.
    He is Iron man.

Also, all the superheros charging against Thanos brought tears to my eyes…because I grew up on reading comics and watching a lot of superheros that scene was my dream come true and much more. And the other scene that brought me to tears was the all woman avengers teaming up against Thanos. I and everyone else, cheered and applauded. Genius.

This is Marvel’s masterpiece of blockbuster superhero cinema.

Very well put!! yes I totally agree with you, I think these two avengers are Marvel’s best work! Iron Man is my favorite character as well, so I cried a lot! The battle was so iconic and memorable and Thanks is an amazing villain to be honest!!

        (Thanos) you wrote ‘thanks’. 🙂

Yes, Thanos is the best villain Marvel has ever introduce to their films. Compelling, dark, and sympathetic in a sense.

A 3 out of 5 for Dumbo? That’s disappointing. I was hoping it was good.

I havent watched many movies lately, I just dont have much time BUT how GOOOD was eternal sunshine of the spotless mind?!! I watched it TWICE! I love Jim Carrey and I agree that the story is complex but I think that’s why I enjoyed it more. It made me think about what was going on as it was happening whereas most movies you just watch it see the story unfold. It was definitely one of my favorite movies that I’ve seen this year. 🙌🏼
