Hello my dear pumpkins!
I hope you had an amazing halloween, I actually didn’t do anything on Wednesday night, I finished my classes at 9pm, went straight back home, studied then fell asleep. So today, I am sharing with you my top 5 spooky shows that are available on Netflix, as the title states it very clearly. I do know that halloween is officially over but I still thought this post would interest you as spooky shows are not only for this time of the year and I really think if you’re looking to start a tv show that’s scary and dark, I definitely recommend any of these five.
Anyways, if you want to know what are my favorite spooky shows to watch on Netflix then keep on reading!
#5 Penny Dreadful
“Explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American gunslinger Ethan Chandler, scientist Victor Frankenstein, and medium Vanessa Ives unite to combat supernatural threats in Victorian London.”
Not new but definitely one of my favorite tv shows ever. I am a huge fan of Eva Green, she is so good in this series and the story is just so interesting and intriguing. I love tv shows/movies that has monsters and dark creatures. This show also tackles witchcraft hence why I love it so much!
I don’t know if it’s available on Netflix but I watched it on Netflix and last time I checked, it was still there :p
#4 Bates Motel
“A contemporary prequel to Psycho, giving a portrayal of how Norman Bates’ psyche unravels through his teenage years, and how deeply intricate his relationship with his mother, Norma, truly is.”
Definitely a series that you should watch, I initially started watching “Bates Motel” because my history of film teacher told me about it and also because I love Alfred Hitchock’s Psycho. I love this series so much, the story is on point, the acting is incredible and I think Norman Bates is such an interesting character. I am a big fan of psychological movies, so if it’s not fantasy/horror/sci-fi movies that I am watching, i would totally be watching psychological thrillers.
#3 The Haunting Of Hill House
“Flashing between past and present, a fractured family confronts haunting memories of their old home and the terrifying events that drove them from it.”
I’ve already talked about this series in my October Favorites ’18, I absolutely loved it, it’s not too scary but I loved the story a lot and how it builds up. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a horror tv show.
#2 Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
“As her 16th birthday nears, Sabrina must choose between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends. Based on the Archie comic.”
I am currently obsessed with this show, it’s so addictive and I love the gory, messed-up scenes. I thought it would be very childish but it tackles rather dark topics.
This tv show is all about witchcraft and satanic beliefs, a very interesting subject, I think.
#1 Stranger Things
“When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back.”
This is the coolest spooky series of all time, if you don’t know what it is, where have you been living? seriously, it’s so famous and for a good reason cause it’s so good. I love that it has an 80s vibe [I think it’s 80s, correct me if I am wrong] but is still set in the present and like I said, I love movies/shows that has monsters and demons.
American Horror Story
“An anthology series centering on different characters and locations, including a house with a murderous past, an insane asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, a hotel, a possessed farmhouse, a cult, and the apocalypse.”
How could I talk about spooky shows without mentioning American Horror Story, I know that it is available in the Netflix USA and not in other Netflixs [that’s why it’s not part of the list] but honestly, this is a must-watch for me. Every season is a different universe, a different story but it gets me every time. The first few seasons are my favorites, I didn’t like Roanoke and I didn’t watch Cult. I am currently watching Apocalypse but haven’t finished it yet.
I do warn you that AHS is very scary and messed up, way more than all the other tv shows I mentioned above [why I love it, duh!!]
That’s it for these mini TV show reviews. I hope you enjoyed reading them and if you did, don’t forget to give this post a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.
