Tarte Shape Tape Concealer: Hit or Miss?

Hello my pumpkins and welcome back!

Today I am reviewing the famous Shape Tape Concealer by Tarte Cosmetics. This concealer has been raved about since the beginning of 2016 and according to most beauty bloggers and vloggers, this is the best concealer ever.

I am so happy I get to finally try it, I’ve been wanting to have it for a long time but it’s so hard to get your hands on it if you don’t live in the states.

If you are living in Lebanon, you can get this concealer from diverse Instagram pages such as ‘Beautycornerbeirut‘ [this is where I got mine], or ‘Fluturabeauty‘ [I know that she sells Tarte products].

Before diving into this review, don’t forget to check out my top 5 concealers and now without further ado, let’s get into the review.

Product Information

This concealer comes in 14 shades, retails for 27$ and contains 10 ml of product [or 0.3381 fl. oz]. This product is vegan, cruelty-free and you can find it at Ulta or order it online from Tarte Cosmetics. [it’s not available in Sephora anymore]

This concealer comes in a simple purple cartoon box that looks pretty fancy and high-end. The packaging of the concealer itself looks and feels super luxurious. It’s actually heavier than other concealers I own. I love how it looks, I love the fact that the upper part has designs but the tube [where the product is] looks fairly simple with only the name of the brand and of the concealer written on it. I love the design on the upper part, it looks super fancy and original.

By the way, it’s made out of plastic so it’s travel-friendly and the product informations are written on the bottom of the concealer and on the cartoon box.

Another thing that I loved is how huge the applicator is.

Of course, the star of this review is the formula!

A best-selling, full-coverage, vegan, blendable concealer that instantly brightens, smooths & shapes skin.

Provides a flawless matte finish that won’t flake or crease, even if you have dry skin, fine lines, or pore problems – no setting powder necessary. Mango seed & shea butters naturally regenerate & illuminate all complexions, letting you play with light to lift your features.” [taken from Tarte’s website]

I don’t know about not needing to set it but honestly, this concealer is so full-coverage that I only need 3 dots to cover my dark circles [that never happens with other concealers]. It’s not the easiest thing to blend but it doesn’t dry rapidly and it does set to a matte finish without looking too drying, without creasing, without setting into fine lines and without emphasizing my pores. I still think you need to set it so that it looks flawless.

Also, this concealer is SUPER long-lasting and I tried to use it to cover my blemishes, it’s amazing but since it’s too light on me, I don’t use it to cover my pimples.

This concealer is more on the heavy side so I don’t recommend wearing it on a daily basis or for a natural makeup look.

This concealer is definitely a hit, I’ve never seen a concealer that full-coverage. Plus, for 27$ you get 10ml of product which is a lot, a little bit goes a long way AND the finish is amazing.

That’s it for this review. I hope you enjoyed reading and if you did, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.

How do you go about choosing your shade online? I always worry I will choose completely the wrong shade!

    • January 18, 2018 / 5:08 pm

Don’t worry, i panicked too!! The shade ended up to be too light but it’s fine, i can still use it, it doesn’t look that horrible
