Wonder [2017]

‘Wonder’ is based on a bestseller novel and was directed by Stephen Chbosky. The movie follows the story of a little boy, who was born physically deformed, when he goes to school after being homeschooled his whole life.

I absolutely loved this film, it’s such an inspiring and moving film, I advice all of you to watch it [but be ready to cry].

I really loved the story in general and the theme it tackles. I think, it was well-written and neatly developed. I also love how the story focuses only in one part of Auggie’s life [the first few months he goes to school] and how they tell Auggie’s life through different perspectives [including his]. When we see Auggie’s perspective [the story is told through his perspective mostly], we see what he imagines which is super cool. [SPOILERS: Sometimes, Star Wars characters make an appearance, which I think is cool because he is a Star Wars Fan]

Of course, the movie is not only dramatic, there are a few comedic scenes to lighten up the mood and make the movie fun to watch.

Moreover, the characters were realistically written and were well developed. You can definitely  relate to the characters and they feel very human: each has their own distinct personality and they are three dimensional [personality wise, if you see what I mean]. I really loved the character of Auggie, he is very interesting and gives a fair representation of a 10-year-old boy who does not fit in.

Moving on to the acting, I think Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson did an amazing job as the boy’s parents and Jacob Tremblay is amazing as Auggie, I was so impressed by his acting. In general, the acting is very believable and genuine [neither too little nor too much], I have nothing bad to say about the performances.

In conclusion, if you feel like watching a drama film that tackles an important subject and that has a good acting then you should most definitely watch ‘Wonder’.

That’s it for today. If you found this reviewto be interesting/useful, don’t forget to give it a ‘like’ and to follow my blog.

Sounds great. Fantastic that you refined taste and great hearing your views on other aspects of culture. Definitely glad I follow your blog and interested to hear more about films.
I saw Justice league the other night. Not as good as Marvel though some good aspects for followers of popular culture.
I still have 9 free movie tickets to use

So do I. I especially liked Christopher Nolan’s trilogy and it took me a few scenes of this one to allow myself to suspend a bit of belief. They did it well though.
I actually didn’t mind Green Lantern a while back. For all comics he is one of my faves. In Marvel it is Silver Surfer

I wasn’t very impressed by the trailers for Wonder, I thought it seemed a bit patronising. Glad to know it’s not. I’m going to try and watch it now. Thank you for changing my mind. 🙂

Wonder is one of the most emotionally manipulative cliche-ridden predictable narrative films about the pain of being different that I have ever seen. I dont care. I loved it.
