Hello my pumpkins and welcome back!
So today I am reviewing two highliner gel crayon eyeliners by Marc Jacobs Beauty. These are my first products by Marc Jacobs, I am actually very happy that this brand is cruelty-free and I read/watched a lot of good reviews on these eyeliners.
From the eyeliner collection, I got two shades : ‘Blacquer’ [which is the black shade] and ‘(Brown)ie’ [which is the brown shade]. Each retails for 25$ and you get 0.5g of product in each.Â
By the way, the collection offers three different types of finish: shimmer, matte and satin. The black one [the one I have] is the only one that has a satin finish and ‘(brown)ie’ has a matte finish.Â
PACKAGING
I just adore the packaging, I think it is super neat and fancy, which explains the price. The pencil itself is colored in silver, with the name of the brand marked in big and the color of the eyeliner wrapped around. I like how for the matte finish, the silver looks matte but for the satin finish, the silver is very shinny. In general, I really love holding those eyeliners and I am so happy they are part of my makeup collection.Â
I love the fact that it’s not an actual pencil that you can sharpen, the lead gets out only if you roll it up [the black part, if you see what I mean]. I think it’s cleaner and perfect for traveling.Â
FORMULA
“Make a bold statement with this extreme-wear, waterproof eyeliner that glides on effortlessly to deliver instant color payoff. Exclusive to Marc Jacobs Beauty, the super-malleable formula offers versatility of application. Apply Highliner for flawless, precise lines, or smudge immediately after lining for an instant smoky eye.”
So this is what Sephora wrote on their website concerning this eyeliner, and I must say that they are 99% right.Â
These eyeliners are SUPER creamy and VERY pigmented however, when I first applied the black one in my waterline, it came out a little bit patchy but as soon as I went over it a second time, it looked perfect. Other than that, it does glide on smoothly and effortlessly.Â
To add on, the formula is super long-lasting like Marc Jacobs claims it and it is easy to smudge, if you want to create a smokey eye makeup look, but you have to go fast because it dries fairly quickly.
CONCLUSION
I am in love with those two products, especially the brown shade, nevertheless, I wish they contained more product, I mean 0.5g for 25$ is nothing. At least, the formula is on point and the packaging is pretty!
Do I recommend these eyeliners? If you are willing to spend 25$ for one, then yes, totally worth it. If not, they are not a must-have and as a dupe, you can purchase the crĂšme gel liner by ColourPop [cheap, great formula and cruelty-free]
Thatâs it for today. If you found this post to be interesting/useful, donât forget to give it a âlikeâ and to follow my blog.

Love your practical no nonsense conclusion, great work Mz Joy!!
Love these liners! I have one in blue (not a very practical colour) but am always so impressed on the odd occasion I use it, I really should invest in a more day to day black one! x
I’m glad Marc Jacobs is cruelty free, makesme more inclined to spend money on products that are that way!x
I love gel eyeliner, but my current one does have a bad habit of rubbing off pretty easily. I was definitely happy to stay with it as it was the only cruelty-free gel eyeliner that I was happy(ish) with. SO HAPPY to know that Marc Jacobs in cruelty-free and long-lasting. Will definitely be checking it out next time I need new eyeliner!!!
I have the shade Brownie too! I really want more colors. There is a really pretty burgundy color I really want! đ
Yess they have a great selection of colours, i want them all đ
Honestly, same! đđ
I would definitely love to try these out – gotta love products where the quality lives up to the price:) Great review as always! xox
Hehe thank you đđ
I bought the brown one 3 weeks ago and I am loving it! It stays on for hours and does not smudge.
Yess it stays put the whole day!!!
The brownie shade is sunning! I love Marc Jacobâs packaging too. I have the Lolita palette: sometimes I feel like I like the packaging more than the palette itself ahhaha xx
Hahahahha girl i understand!!
Oohhh these liners sound really good I might try them out!! đ xx
These are so pretty but yeah you don’t get a lot of product for the price! Just to let you know, I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award in my most recent post (I’m unsure if you’ve already done it)! <3
Aahh thank you!! I was actually nominated for one too, a week ago. I will do yours in the same post â€ïžâ€ïžđđ
You’re welcome! I look forward to reading it â€â€
Sounds like a great product! How do you remove it from your waterline?
It is! I use coconut oil because it doesnât harm my eyes!
These sound amazing! I didnât know Marc Jacobs is cruelty free. Thatâs amazing!!!
