Hello my pumpkins and welcome back!
I can’t believe halloween is approaching so for this occasion, I decided to share with you my top favorite movies to watch on Halloween. I divided this post into two categories: Children & Family/ Comedy and Horror/Thriller films. Beware, the list is long but is not in order. You will also notice that there are a lot of Tim Burton films, basically because Tim Burton is the king of Halloween!
Children & Family/ Comedy
- The Nightmare Before Christmas [1993]
From IMDB: Jack Skellington, king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home cause confusion.
- Dark Shadows [2012]

- Hocus Pocus [1993]
From IMDB: After three centuries, three witch sisters are resurrected in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night, and it is up to two teenagers, a young girl, and an immortal cat to put an end to their reign of terror once and for all.
- The Adams Family [1991] [but any of the Adams Family movies is awesome!]
From IMDB: Con artists plan to fleece an eccentric family using an accomplice who claims to be their long-lost uncle.
- Coraline [2009] [I would put this movie into the horror category but well. It’s actually quite scary for a children’s film]
From IMDB: An adventurous girl finds another world that is a strangely idealized version of her frustrating home, but it has sinister secrets.
- Hotel Transylvania 1 [2012] & 2 [2015]
From IMDB: Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teen-aged daughter.
From IMDB: Dracula and his friends try to bring out the monster in his half human, half vampire grandson in order to keep Mavis from leaving the hotel.
Horror/Thriller
- Batman Returns [1992] [At 9 years old, I used to watch this film EVERYDAY!!]
From IMDB: When a corrupt businessman and the grotesque Penguin plot to take control of Gotham City, only Batman can stop them, while the Catwoman has her own agenda.
- Nightmare on ELM Street movies
Serial killer hunts a bunch of people in their dreams!
- Halloween movies
Follows the story of Michael Myers who killed his sister on the night of halloween 1963 and escapes from a mental hospital to kill again!
- Friday the 13th movies
A group of campers are stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant!
- Orphan [2009]
From IMDB: A husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9 year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.
- The Conjuring 2 [2016] [the second one is my favorite because the nun freaks me out! But the first one is not bad at all]
From IMDB: Ed and Lorraine Warren travel to North London to help a single mother raising 4 children alone in a house plagued by a supernatural spirit.

- Rosemary’s Baby [1968] or [2014]
From IMDB: A young couple moves in to an apartment only to be surrounded by peculiar neighbors and occurrences. When the wife becomes mysteriously pregnant, paranoia over the safety of her unborn child begins to control her life.
- Saw movies [a lot of gory scenes, so if you don’t like blood, these films are not for you]
People are kidnapped and imprisoned in a deadly game, controlled by a notorious serial killer!
- The Omen [1976] or [2006]
From IMDB: Mysterious deaths surround an American ambassador. Could the child that he is raising actually be the Antichrist? The Devil’s own son?

This a really great list of films to see on Halloween. Pretty much seen all of them. The Babadook though….that one really scared the living daylights out of me. It was such a genuinely frightening film. Thanks for sharing this terrific list and of course: happy Halloween! 🎃🎃
Yes totally agree!!! Thanks for passing by and happy halloween ❤️
Thank you for sharing this!!! This is my new Halloween guide!

Sleepy hollow worth a look at.
Yessss
From Hell is worth watching too. Jack the ripper and the whole gaslight thing. Victorian era. Dracula with Gary Oldman as Dracula is essential. Bram Stoker was one of the best gothic writers.
I havent watched From Hell but i will as soon as i come back from Spain!!! Yes Dracula is a must-watch, in fact idk what i didnt add it 😂😂😂 thanks ❤️❤️
If you go to Catalonia an English writer friend of mine is living there. Chloe Thurlow. Her best selling book is Katie in Love. You must read it. Chloe is a damn good writer and a quality human being.
I will read her book sure!! But i am not going to catalonia!
Enjoy. Hemingway writes about Spain well in the 30’s 😉
One of the good Depp films before he started trying to hard to be a tripper and has repeated ever since. He was a laughing stock more recently in our country by anyone not a space cadet, that is on drugs or not aware they aren’t on drugs despite thinking they are. Our quarantine laws are for very good reasons and an ego thinking that science, economics, or infection control doesn’t apply to them….
He plays guitar ok though. So do I… just that I spent my decade sitting around all day playing loud, performing at night, and spending everything on cheap wine when I was 15 to 25. I guess some people get rich doing what they are made to do then pretend they did it when real lost souls were desperate.
Drew Barrymore is the real deal.
Scary movies are always too scary for me but TIM BURTON is my favourite directior! Sweeney Todd ♥️ I’ve seen almost all of the ones you recommend so I’ll catch up on the ones I’m missing like Frankenweenie and Coraline. I also have to watch the Addams Family 🖤🖤
Hehe yay enjoy ❤️❤️
Great list! I’ve seen majority of these movies. Tim Burton films are fantastic, I love his work. Coraline is a really good film, but definitely should not have been a kids movie lol. Makes me want to sit down and watch through all these movies (there’s a few on your list I haven’t seen)
Well i hope you get to see the movie you haven’t watched yet!! Thanks for passing by xx

Great list! Tim Burton is king! I haven’t seen Dark Shadows and been meaning too so this is a good reminder. Some on the list are a little too scary for my taste haha. Oh and Sweeny Tod just made me feel queezy 😛 One genre I like to watch for Halloween along with your list above is the parodies like Scary Movie. Dumb but I still find it funny. Thanks for the list!
Ohhh i should have added them!! And yes tim burton is the king!! Thanks for passing by xx
You got so many of my favorites! I love Hocus Pocus and Corpse Bride!
They are great!!
The one movie I absolutely have to watch every Halloween is Hocus Pocus! I love your list of movies. I love Tim Burton films as well so you pretty much covered a lot of my favourites! Although I still haven’t seen Dark Shadows so I’m going to try to make that happen!
